Mass crowds

I really enjoy photographing events as there is a ready-made theme, people don't mind having their picture taken and there is an energy that you don't get on a normal day.

Emerging from Marble Arch underground exit. I didn't plan this shot, I just raised my camera and took it because I saw the sun blasting in. I love the angle, the movement and the contrasting light.

I wonder if this is a family, or friends, I like the double camera effect, I am taking a picture of a man taking a picture. I think they would like this shot, it is funny to see them getting their selfie faces ready.

This shot says a lot to me. It feels quite 'Just William' in the way that the young protesters are up on a railing being rebellious, but the expensive takeaway drinks show that this is a middle class group protesting in comfort. I expect the smoke on the left is from a vape. The children all look serious, Brexit will be serious for them, and they know that being at this event is important.

I couldn't quite understand the significance of these three flags together and the right hand one seems a bit out of focus. I like the way they are all different heights, and the group is bigger than the smaller people in the distance. The railings and the walkers all draw the eyeline to the back of the picture with the EU flag in the centre mirroring the felt beret on the child.

These older ladies are writing their banner in Hyde Park. They prove that there was a wide age range in the remain camp. I love the team work and the way they have brought their felt tips and a sheet to write on.

A tide of faces moving slowly towards Parliament square, but one woman seems completely still, and staring at the camera. She is framed by a dark halo of black clothes around her. Just like the picture of the 3 flag wearing protesters, where I didn't notice the EU flag in the centre, I didn't notice her until I got home. I have just spotted something else, there is a man in the top right who looks like he is a baby being carried in a baby carrier. The 'Controlled Zone' signs are given a new meaning in this picture too.
